Program Description

Join curator Rosa Ana Orlando and exhibiting artists Orquidia Violeta, Mariela Finvarb, Beatriz Bellorín, Marisol Valencia, and special featured artist Amoqiix-Araceli for a conversation about Stringing Beads / Ensartar Cuentas. Together they will discuss how the 2024 STELO Summer Invitational Residency—and the year-long dialogue that followed—shaped the ideas, relationships, and artworks presented in the exhibition. The conversation will explore the role of artistic community, collaboration, and sustained exchange in contemporary practice, while reflecting on themes of migration, identity, memory, ecology, grief, ancestral knowledge, and care. Through insights into their creative processes and the stories embedded within the works, the artists and curator will consider how shared experiences continue to resonate across time, distance, and material practice.
