Meet + Greet with c3  |  April 11, 2018, 6:30-9pm
Reading + Mapping at Working Library  |  September 19, 6:30-8pm

ABOUT THE LECTURE

In this lecture, Brian Holmes presents the core ideas of a participatory mapping project entitled “Learning from Cascadia.” The creation of this online multimedia atlas involves extensive outreach to local environmental organizations and stewardship initiatives, as well as to artists, who will be able to submit projects for the mapping platform. In addition, “Learning from Cascadia” includes a theoretical dimension focusing on earth science and urban metabolism, with a direct connection to the Anthropocene Curriculum program that has been unfolding at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin over the last five years. The project is supported by PNCA and will be shown at the Center for Contemporary Art & Culture as part of the exhibition The Earth Will Not Abide, in Fall 2018. But first we need to talk about it, and maybe even work together! If you are interested in art, ecology and the social relations of perception and expression, then this might be the experiment for you.
